| Cat Spitting Mad by Shirley Rousseau Murphey. This was a lot of fun. And this is the latest in a series of books about Joe Grey, a cat with unusual powers. He can speak and think like a human. This has him perplexed, but he adapts and skillfully solves crimes with the help of a similar cat, Dulcie. Cleverly, they manage to call the police chief of the quiet seacoast California town about crimes. In this book, however, the police chief is the prime suspect. This makes Joe Grey spitting mad. He knows the character of the man and thinks it unlikely that he was the murder. I recommend this. If you have the chance start out with the first book of the series, Cat on the Edge. It features a humorous incident when Joe's owner first gets a phone call from him telling him he was a murder witness.

One of my favorites is the Cat Who series written by Lilian Jackson Braun. This features two Siamese and a male journalist that solve crimes. The first of the series is The Cat Who Read Backwards. Koko is the cat that Qwilleran, the journalist, also called Qwill spelled with a w, adopts from his landlord when this landlord is murdered. This landlord was a gourmet cook and Koko is used to the best. So the kitchen challenged Qwill ahas to learn how to cut and serve the morsels that please this finicky feline. This is probably the favorite of most Cat Who affectionados. I highly recommend this! I have read it several times.
